This was something related to the approach we keep when we are making a selection of the career path we are planning to move in....
I think it was an year back but it just came to my mind and thought of sharing as it might be useful to you too....
I and Harsh were going to the project of YUVA when we had some discussion going on regarding the career, like which field should be opted for! I have been passionate about marketing, advertising, sales promotions and stuff from quite a period now, so i told him that I am planning to go ahead with something related to it. The other criteria was that i want to join my dad and help him out with the expansion for his business so i had to get into some kind of thing which would be industrial marketing or of that sort. But along with that would also come the responsibility of handling the employees we have. i.e. Human Resource Management thats what we call right?
So now i was thinking of going with some Mba from marketing or advertising field... Here where he put this,
"According to me this is the general mistake which people do. They arent able to differentiate between the need and the passion they have. Now you are passionate about marketing so even if you dont do a course on it you are going to keep yourself updated and keep reading things related to it. No doubt, you are going to make your specialised in that sector but as far as your need is concerned you could be going with HR as there is no one to handle that if your current 15 employees go 50. what about it? You can hire some one to take care of it, but if you know the tactics of handling it it makes the work much easier! (and he always adds this) This is what i think then you know it better what you should be doing!"
The point of matter here to understand for me was the things which we like even if someone doesnt tell us we are going to do. If someone comes and tells me you cant watch movies then also i will be doing coz' i love watching them.
Similiarly with the career interests..... Preferably you can make yourself more stronger in other fields which you have not looked into it can help you more.
P.S. I guess this can be helpful for buddy entrepreneurs and not for them who are going for jobs.
