Lakshman Sagar

So yes, some pictures are uploaded on Facebook and my inbox is full of inquiries for Lakshman Sagar. I feel like a travel agent.
Yes the place is awesome. Yes you should go there once or more. Yes you will love the place, ambience, detailing, hospitality, small acts of courtesy, serenity, everything!

For those who want to go to Lakshman Sagar!

Flight to Jodhpur or Train to Ajmer would be accessible from any part of India. Try for Haripur railway station in Raipur - won't be accessible from everywhere but if you get it, this would be the best as Lakshman Sagar is just 10 minutes from here. Make a note that Haripur railway station won't be available on the online railway booking. They will arrange for a pick and drop from all the three points.

We took train to Ajmer as we also wanted to offer prayers at the Dargah of Khwaja Garib Nawaz.

Two days and three nights would be ideal according to me if you are a couple, with friends or family you can add up a day more!

Lakshman Sagar has 12 Shikhar Ghars ( I think they call them Shikhar Ghars because every cottage is built on a different rock in the property. - my guess).
the sitting area

They are basically mud-stone cottages which has very minutely detailed interiors consisting of a sitting with a fire place, bedroom, bathing space which you will love it, the smell of the stones when the water falls on it! Bou mast! and a private splash pool. I think only 4 cottages have the pools so you can tell when you are booking the room if you want one! If you don't like to much of silence

Food they serve is super delicious. Trust me you will wait for your next meal! Also, everything they serve is from organic farming they do in the fields just outside the property. Also Dayal Singhji ka style of serving, Bahut Badhiya!

Things you can do except for enjoying the silence, food, winds, animals and birds!
a. go for the field breakfast which they offer. Totally worth it to get up early for this one.

b. walk around the property in the evening.
c. Village Safari - Umm, if you have been to Rajasthan and know the villages, you can skip it. But on the first day as soon you reach ask them to bring the Mojdi ( Jooti wallah - shoes) to make a custom made for you. They are good!
front side of the jeep is DayalSinghji and behind is Prakashji. Amazing Guys!

d. Fire on the dam at night is fun!

Historical Backdrop:
A 19th century hunting lodge, Lakshman Sagar encapsulates centuries of history and age old Marwar tradition. Built to host visiting noble families and British Emissaries for their hunting escapades, the lodge emanates stories of the era gone by.

The Zanana (women quarters) and mardana (men) quarters, designed practically for the ladies and  men respectively, offer hints to Rajput culture and traditional customs like pardah or reflecting the granduer of mehfils & baithaks.
Behind is Zanana, now a dining space

Seeped in history, every corner of lakshman Sagar depicts the nuances of hunting holidays during the days of the Raj. From the machans used for tiger spotting to the man-made lake to attract game, great care has been taken to restore these priceless prints of the past.
